How to build your steps using Gardenia product

Construction Notes:
1. Using this arrangement, steps with 6” risers and 12” treads can be created
2. Use Gardenia for riser courses.
3. Use Gardenia Corner Units to create each 90 degree corner.
4. Wider steps can be created by adding more Gardenia Units between the Corner Units.
5. More steps can be added by installing more Gardenia Units behind the step face.
6. Gardenia’s built-in setback will create steps that area approx. 16mm (5/8”) narrower as each course is added,  adjustments will be necessary as layers are installed.
7. Backfill with compacted aggregate as each course is added.
8. Filter cloth may be used behind the steps to stabilized backfill material.
10. Step treads should be adhered to the riser course below using concrete adhesive.
11. Position the step treads so there is about a 25mm (1”) overhang in front and about 75mm (3”) in back.
12. At the end of each step tread, portions of the tail on the Units will have to be removed so the units will be flat.
